At Holistika, we offer a variety of treatments and are constantly adding more!

We believe that animals have the ability to heal and flourish if their body is given the right tools. Sometimes, it can take a few tries to find that "right treatment" for each individual animal. For this reason, we like to keep many different tools in our tool kit!

Conventional Medicine

The practice of inserting needles at specific points in the body to enact change has been around for thousands of years. Ancient Chinese doctors have been treating livestock, such as horses and cattle, with needles since ancient times as well. In the past 100 years, we have been able to extrapolate these points onto our companion animals, such as dogs and cats, with amazing results!

Acupuncture can be used for treating many disorders. It can help animals with pain, nausea, digestive problems, stress, respiratory problems and even assist in balancing an animal with cancer.

If you would like to learn more about what an acupuncture treatment looks like, see Dr. Magda's blog post about it here: https://holistikavet.com/acupuncture-for-pets/

While western pharmaceuticals can help alleviate symptoms, decrease pain and aid in dangerous situations where the body is out of balance, Chinese herbs work on a different level. Chinese herbs help to bring balance to the body on a deeper level, slowly shifting and moving things back towards a healthier set point.

Long-term stress, poor diet, environmental toxins and life in general can cause the energy and blood flow in the body get stuck or impeded. This decreased or "stuck" blood circulation, when not corrected in its early stages, can lead to pain and/or disease. Chinese herbs help to open the energy and blood flow, which allows the body to heal itself. While Acupuncture works more quickly, it is sometimes not able to penetrate as deeply as Chinese herbs do. The two modalities complement each other allowing for a deeper treatment.

During your consultation, the doctor will look at your pet's tongue, pulse, the physical exam and your pet's unique personality traits to determine what is out of balance and what, if anything, needs to be corrected. Sometimes diet alone will help the imbalance, and sometimes herbs and acupuncture are required to help the body auto-correct.

Flower essences are one of Dr. Magda's favorite treatments! Since many animals have health conditions rooted in stress, finding ways to treat and eliminate stress is a cornerstone of any holistic treatment. While the name "flower essence" may sound weak, don't be deceived by the name! We have seen countless cases where flower essences helped to decrease stress and trauma, stop seizures, helped animals that were "bickering" at home, and even help stop unwanted behaviors such as cats peeing on beds and furniture!

All of our flower essence combinations are hand-selected by the doctor based the behaviors your pet is displaying and are custom-tailored to your animal.

Nutrition is the keystone of life and good health. It is also the foundation of Holistika's practice philosophy. Our doctors have spent many years researching and studying the best types of foods for animals. Many diseases can be altered with a simple diet change alone.

We currently do not create complete and balanced recipes. However, we may provide this service in the future. But we can tell you which diets we recommend and work around your budget and cooking willingness/ abilities!

Erchonia Cold Laser

There are quite a few cold lasers available for treating animals. Cold lasers are called "cold" in order to differentiate them from "hot" lasers that are used to cut tissue in surgical procedures. So while they are colder than a hot laser, they still emit light and often radiate some heat.

Cold lasers have many benefits. They can be anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving and help to stimulate cells to grow and even give the immune system a boost! They have been shown to help with non-healing wounds as well as arthritic pain. Lasers are a nice alternative for animals that do not like acupuncture treatments.

Holistika chose the Erchonia laser for its additional features and programmable options. In addition to the benefits of traditional lasers, the Erchonia has actually been shown in a case study out of Canada to benefit dogs with cancer, improving survival times even by years! If you are interested in learning more, we would love to discuss the details with you at our next visit.
